About
Aaron Scott is a North Carolina native. He is currently a resident of Connellys Springs, a community in Burke County. Aaron is a junior at Lenoir-Rhyne University where he is studying political science. He is very active in the community.
Aaron has been involved in North Carolina Student Legislature where he has written many resolutions, including a 17-page bill for NC energy reform. He is involved with the school’s integrity group that he helped initiate. He has helped organize and chair the first Model UN event in the Catawba Valley.
Aaron has been recognized as a youth leader. He took the initiative to launch Teen Action Committee (TAC). This committee helps young teens get involved in their community and provides them with a healthy outlet. Because of Aaron’s hard work he was nominated for the Community Service Award at Lenoir-Rhyne University. He has also been nominated in NCSL as Best Speaker and House Pro Tempore. At his last convention, two of his resolutions were nominated and one won.
It is not hard to see that Aaron’s passion lies in politics. He is driven to fight for people and give them a voice. He believes that today’s government has become corrupt – supporting the “big business man” – he wants to refocus it to the people. Aaron believes that government was created for the people and therefore, should be run by the people.
Aaron finds his inspiration from the readings and teachings of Alexander Hamilton. Hamilton envisioned a very proactive government, where it is always moving forward and helping the people of the country. Aaron has realized that our government has come to a stand-still, and is not as effective as it should be. Many politicians claim they are working to improve the government and society for “the future,” and Aaron feels it is time for him to stand up and help pave the way to a new and brighter future for everyone.
