What’s Next For The Gay Community

TheDallasPrinciplesAt every turn, it seems that the LGBT community is handed bad luck.  Record numbers of southern states have passed consititutional amendments banning gay marriage.  Hate crimes and employment non-discrimination bills fail to be passed, while record numbers of LGBT people are assaulted, killed and fired for nothing more than the fact that they are lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender.

We often feel betrayed by our leaders, who beg for our vote and support, often to forget about our community when the important decisions are made.  Today, the California Supreme Court ruled on the wrong side of history by upholding hate embodied in Proposition 8.

A Dark Day For Equality

Today, the State of California’s high court pushed a whole population of people to the “back of the bus” in upholding Proposition 8.  This is a sad day for fairness and equality.

It’s also a call-to-action to the LGBT community.  The Dallas Principles are definitely the way forward for our community.  Demand our rights NOW and settle for nothing less!

Day of Decision

The issue of marriage rights for gay and lesbian Americans has been at the front of the political debate for the last few days.  As same-sex couples in states that allow gay marriage unite together, eyes today will be on the decision handed down by the California Supreme Court.
